I doubt it would have taken 3 days of retraining for your mother-in-law to be relatively anger at ease with Mac OS X. You should give her a little more credit for the smarts she has... or pump up her self-esteem and self-confidence, whichever is most applicable. Compatibility issues are becoming less and less of an issue these days, unless anger your mother-in-law uses some technical, employer-specific applications anger at home. I have no problem opening Word docs and Powerpoint presentations. Anyone on any computer can read the PDFs I create on the fly with Mac OS X. (Too bad you can't do that on Windows without paying Adobe $400-500.) Anyway, that's enough scribbling for now. # Gina: I truly appreciate everyone's passion for Mac OS X. I own a Powerbook as well as a PC myself, and I do understand how great OS X is. |

| On Mac OS X, you can peter manseau point & click to your heart's content without worrying what you might break.. because it won't. Yeah, sure. At times you have to point and click in a different place than peter manseau you're used to. Yet, I hardly noticed that File, Edit, et al, were located in the stationary peter manseau menu bar at the top of the screen instead of in the individual windows. A year later, I noticed the difference at work when someone mentioned it while training a newbie. Are their times when the vocabulary is a little different? Yeah, sure. But is it all that hard to figure out "desktop picture" means "wallpaper"?? (Wall? What wall?) Is it all that hard to figure out that a bookmark is a favorite? That System Preferences is where you set the computer controls the way you *prefer* ?? Working on a PC at work every day, then coming home to a Mac in the evening and on weekends is just like, as some here have described themselves, switch hitting. |
