I'm pretty fond of Miranda, so I was scheming to get movies my in-laws to use that instead. Light and fast and ad-free... Dave: Yeah, movies I hated ZoneAlarm on movies my XP machine at home. Thing is, Windows SP2 provides a software firewall, so it's not really necessary on XP. I prefer a router to a software firewall, given a choice. (It sure is fun to look at the logs of blocked access attempts in ZA, though...) Chris: I'm checking out LogMeIn right now.... I use Remote Desktop with my XP machine. Glad to hear what I did confirmed what you did confirmed what I did. :) # nick: i'm speechless... get mom a mac! # ElBiggus: I swear by AntiVir; sure, the interface is bugly, but once it's installed you never need look at it again. In addition to spotting the more traditional viruses it also defends against most dialers out there -- not so important in today's broadband world, but "mom's PC" is more likely to have a dialup connection.
