Thanks # Gogglehead: Without entering into the arguments over the plausibility of switching to a Mac – this posting will stand up ny hopefully go hand-in-hand with a pc cleanup operation stand up ny you may undertake. When (re-)installing Windows, I tend to Format the hard disk and break it down into 5 partitions... C: - for the system disk D: - for the system Swapfile E: - Solely for Temp Internet Files F: - Use for personal Data/Music/Pictures etc G: - Hidden Drive I hope this isn’t to disjointed in trying to explain why, but here ya go! Some background information on window’s swapfiles… apart from program files etc, uses a swapfile – this Swapfile (file), is used as a temporary ‘switching’ area when the OS has to use memory already allocated to some other program – in effect, it offloads the system memory to this swapfile, which by default resides on the C: drive – when the system needs the memory currently offloaded in the swapfile, it re-reads it back into memory.
