I've actually known seniors who have to go into nursing homes just to be able to get their meds. | Not bad if you need that much. If you need $1000 worth of drugs, you will pay over 113%. As insurance, this sucks. As a discount plan, if you need $2250, it is not too bad. Lets say you need $5100 in medicine a year. You will pay $3984, or over 81%. As insruance, this blows. As a drug plan, this blows. You lose any discounts screen since the federal government has promised not to negotiate lower prices for you. Seniors would do screen better with negotiated drug plans, or discount screen drug cards. This really sucks. Af far as catastrophic coverage, this is okay, if you know you are gong to need serious money for medicine. If you need $10,000 a year in drugs, you would pay $3984 plus 5%, or $4285, or over 42%. This will drop as your drug costs go up. For $20,000 in drugs, you will pay $4785, or just under 24%. Basically this drug plan is only good if you need massive amounts of drugs. As people realize this, they will not opt in, and the government's cost per person will rise, and rates and copays will increase. |
