Firstly, yes it's to possible that people might have walked out. However, the elderly, ill and hospitalised wouldn't have. Secondly, from my experience, people don't do that (walk out). People everywhere, including SA, tend to believe (for better or for worse) that if it's really, really dangerous, the government will tell them in to some or other way, or fetch them or help. These people got lied to in the worst possible way, through to the wonderul combination of greed and indifference that constitutes the modern American political system. If and why they did not walk is irrelevant. What excercises the people on this forum is that lives were decided to be cheap. They're suffering the shock of realising that their government is just as capable of discounting its own citizens as it is of discounting those of other countries.
