My mother was deathly ill, after Gleevec she was not only in remission but completely "cancer free" in 4 months. No chemo, no radiation nothing but one little pill every morning with her breakfast for the rest of her life. That's the good news, the bad news is Gleevec costs 225.00 per pill. Every day for the rest of her life. That's 82,000 per year. She's in good health otherwise. IBM doesn't provide her with health insurance (she went to medicare at 65 I think) but they do give her drug coverage.
