When a criminal causes the death of a pregnant woman, child, it's considered a double-murder. There are movements to ban legal abortions on the grounds that the doctors are "murdering babies." The concept of this law follows the same logic. If a human being dies in your care, or even in your home, it is incumbent on you to notify the authorities. To insist on any less for an unborn child would be to suggest that the lives of the unborn are somehow less important than the lives of those who have been born. Do I agree with the bill? Of course not. I am a firm believer in abortion rights, and of the pro-choice movement. |
