Frankly the prescription drug giveaway to the pharmauceutical industry is another example of the Democrats rolling over. Yes, of course they have little or no power, so they had to capitulate. Let's be sure to add to our list of demands when we control Congress that real Medicare prescription drug legislation is enacted. It should be as simple as registering to vote. Period. Make no mistake about it, the prescription drug benefit was designed to intimidate. The prescription drug benefit was ascii art farts formulated with only one beneficiary in ascii art farts mind: the pharmauceutical industry. ascii art farts You do know that the legislation authorizing this "benefit" makes it a crime for Medicare to negotiate prices with the drug companies? Do you know that Medicare (which Mr. Bush is trying to destroy or privatize or whatever), the idea that we as a society have a moral obligation to be responsible for the health care needs of the elederly was one of the crowning achievements of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society legislation.
