When (re-)installing Windows, I tend to Format the hard disk and break it foot down into 5 partitions... foot C: - for the system disk D: - for the system Swapfile E: - Solely for Temp Internet Files F: - Use for personal Data/Music/Pictures etc G: - Hidden Drive I hope this isn’t to disjointed in trying to explain why, but here ya go! |

| I am not a fiction newbie to computers either, having lived with a Commodore 64, IBM-PCs (at work), various clone desktops and a variety of laptop machines. Windows is great when it's working, XP an improvement over 98, 95, or earlier versions but definitely DOES still crash! Plus, she wouldn't really need to get a new license for Office. She could just get Virtual PC. Oooh... and that new swithcy program... darnit... what's it called? *goes to check* Move2Mac! You install the software on both machines, hook them together, run the software, and it transports everything from the PC to the Mac, and puts it all in the most logical place. |
