| # Wayne J: Webroot's SPY SWEEPER is a good freebie (30 day free trial) as extreme far as keeping the computer locked down w/o unauthorized installs and changes. It usually prompts you for any changes, from the registry to Favorites on IE. After 30 days you either need to unistall extreme it or buy it, but I'm sure the $30 will be worth it in the long run. Everything else is like GOLD. I run the AVG myself....and I KNOW it has its limitations, but I found it better than Norton's on an XP Pro machine, so it left extreme the hard way ;) # Waldo Jaquith: Indeed, it's cheaper to buy your mother a Mac if your time is worthless, but that assumes that you a) possess a thousand dollars and b) can spare it for your mother [in-law].
