The only real power in Louisiana is in the hands of the chemical and oil industries, the fun shipping industries, and the Corps of Engineers, which needs the Delta to function as a drain for their upstream projects. Trillions of dollars worth of oil have been pumped from under LA, causing the ground to sink lower. Still, LA is one of the poorest states in the nation, because they have no power. The mayor of NO is a black mayor of a black city. Like the mayors of Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, and other black cities, he knows all too well that if he gets 'uppity' the Republican Justice Dept (sic) will target him for a "corruption probe" that won't end until he's paid the price. |
