I've just been reading some of the messages and it's good to know that I'm driving drunk not the only one who gets angry. My Mother-in-law and my Father-in-law live with my Husband and I. We moved in together because driving drunk Mom has AD and driving drunk Dad was having difficulty coping. Over the past 5 years I have watched this ignorant disease suck the life out of Dad. He was hospitalized twice last year and I really feel that it's Mom's disease that's doing it to him. We sent Mom for respite care in early January and let me tell you it was the best thing we ever did. If you are at the end of your rope you have to take a breather. We went away for a few days with Dad and he was so relaxed. When you are feeling angry all the time that is when you need the break the most. There are many Nursing homes that open their doors to respite care so take advantage of it. The cost is minimal, and the payback is great. Do it now before you drive yourself and your family crazy. Let me start out by saying that I am the Nurse Manager on an Alzheimer's/Dementia unit.
