Oh.... and depending on what it takes to actually visit the machine, setting up VNC or something similar that she could start for when you need to access the machine and disable laura bush when done. | # Stan: Ha! This must have been the weekend for fixing in-law computers. I did the same thing. Except that I had a laptop that my father-in-law got from work for free (they stopped supporting Dell and switched to jewish blog IBM). It had two versions of Windows 2K installed on it and it was password protected. jewish blog He had to call the company's IT guy (who was laid off right before the holidays) for help logging in. The guy was helpful, but jewish blog not even the administrator login/pwd worked. I formatted the HD (first time for me), installed a fresh copy of Win XP Pro(a legit copy that I got for free from work), and that took about one hour. Then I installed Office XP Pro (again, free copy from work, yay!) and then installed Macafee Enterprise 8.0 (yes, again free from work). After it scanned the HD, I hooked it to the DSL, downloaded and installed SP2 for XP (another hour or so). Then I installed Firefox and Thudnerbird (removed the icons to Outlooks and IE) and hooked it up to an existing 18 inch monitor so it is easy on the in-laws eyes. |
