Are there many more heresy nuns

It seems that this law is at the least incapable of acheiving its stated goals. At worst it reverses the innocent-until-proven-guilty concept our laws heresy are based on. A question: Should you have to call the police within a few minutes of every time you take a drink of heresy alcohol and then prove that you had not been driving while under the influence? Would that prevent drunk driving? I do not intend to compare the murder of a child to drunk driving. But neither is a miscarriage the murder of a child. These things seem awfully clear until you have to actually codify those "clear" ideas, don't they? Posted by: Tim | January 11, 2005 at 02:41 PM THIS IS SUCH A INVASION OF PRIVACY .

Are there many more inappropriate disposals of stillbirths? Why do you think that is? It seems that such a law would target women, nuns particuarly young women, perhaps women with post-partum depression... How about doing more to ensure women have appropriate access to treatment for depression? Similar to other states, how about a law that provides amenesty for live or stillbirths left nuns at a hospital, police station, or fire station? Please solve nuns this "problem" with compassion instead of punishment? Posted by: Leslie | January 11, 2005 at 07:45 AM Michelle, How would this law have made anything different in the case of the woman you mention? If she did have a stillbirth, then is it just gathering statistics (for what purpose)? If the BABY was born alive, it wasn't a FETAL death, so the law wouldn't apply. If the BABY was born alive and she claimed it was stillborn, either a medical examiner could tell what really happened and the woman would be prosecutable for killing the baby, or they couldn't tell and nothing could be done - UNLESS there is a presumption of guilt on the part of all women who have miscarriages for the sake of prosecuting those who would try to hide the killing of a baby as a stillbirth.
