| Once exquisite all desired programs are installed, I use Norton Ghost to take a ghost image (snapshot) of my C: drive and store the resultant ghost image on my G: drive. If I set-up a system for someone else, then I hide the G: drive using by modifying the system.adm file with the system policy. That probably sounds more dauting that it actually is, but it’s a good way of not having a exquisite pc user delete a file that you may later rely upon – the drive can still be accessed via windows explorer, but it is not exquisite readily seen without explicit invocation. This way, if all goes wrong then you have a fully functioning system to restore back to – the only note here being, that should you need to restore, then the system will be ‘taken back’ to the day the ghost image was created and therefore all patch since that date will need to be re-applied. |
