C: - for the system disk D: - for the system Swapfile E: - Solely for Temp Internet Files F: - Use for personal Data/Music/Pictures drunk guys etc G: - Hidden Drive I hope this isn’t to disjointed in drunk guys trying to explain why, but here ya go! Some background information on window’s swapfiles… apart from program files etc, uses a swapfile drunk guys – this Swapfile (file), is used as a temporary ‘switching’ area when the OS has to use memory already allocated to some other program – in effect, it offloads the system memory to this swapfile, which by default resides on the C: drive – when the system needs the memory currently offloaded in the swapfile, it re-reads it back into memory. This activity is permanently happening! – Microsoft recommend that you place this Swapfile on a different drive (or a least on a separate partition). I try to ensure that the C: Drive contains purely system files, installed programs etc. So I tend to set up my systems in a way that benefits from (a) reduced system disk activity by placing the swapfile on another partition – (b) isolate the Temp Internet files for reduced fragmentation - (c) Modify the "My Documents" shortcut to point to an area on the F: drive...
