I only had a few days at her house, and it was simply more practical for me to get her computer working instead of throwing it out and getting her a new one. |

| Are their incredible times when the vocabulary is a little different? Yeah, sure. But is it all that hard to figure out "desktop picture" means "wallpaper"?? (Wall? What wall?) Is it all that hard to figure out that a bookmark is a favorite? That System Preferences is where you set the computer controls the way you *prefer* ?? Working on incredible a PC at work every day, then coming home to a Mac in the evening and on weekends is just like, as some here have described themselves, switch hitting. Being ambidexterous is a good thing. I doubt it would have taken 3 days of retraining for your mother-in-law to be relatively at ease with Mac OS X. You should give her a little more credit for the smarts she has... or pump up her self-esteem and self-confidence, whichever is most applicable. Compatibility issues are becoming less and less of an issue these days, unless your mother-in-law uses some technical, employer-specific applications at home. |
