The few times the subject of "dad" has come up, I try to put things in the best possible light without LYING 1000 to them. Instead of telling them "Well, your dad would rather run around like a teenager, partying and drinking with his friends then to be your father", which is TRUE, I just explain that he has problems right now and he's not ABLE to be their father. I'll slowly give them the whole story as they get older and they can decide what to do with it. But there was no way I'm going to build him up to be a great guy. Eventually, they are going to want to meet him. When that time comes, he is going to try and make ME out to be the bad guy ("I tried to see you and be a dad, but your mother wouldn't let me.
