The best one can hope for is a government with sufficient politicians with a diverse range of personal agendas that they cancel out each other's worst excesses. As a South African, I've never considered either of our government regimes to have my interests at heart. Sure, I'm a bit of mature xxx movies a cynic. Surely there are a few who DID have the price of a bus ticket, or a train ticket, and chose to stay anyway. With fingers crossed in the hope that "they" would come to the rescue. Look, perhaps I don't begin to understand the economics of NO. For all I know the price of a bus ticket IS far beyond the reach of some of the population. And if so, it is unbelievably stupid of the local authorities to not realise this.
