As far as your boy calling step mom, mom, he knows who his real mom is. I know it hurts your feelings but if the child wants to call her mom then you can't get angry or upset about it or the child is even more uncomfortable in his situation. The few times the subject of "dad" has come up, I try to put things in the best possible light without LYING to them. Instead of telling them "Well, your dad would rather run around like a teenager, partying and drinking with his friends then to be your father", which is TRUE, I just explain that he has problems right now and he's not ABLE to be their father.
